IHSW and other things

I made a lot of progress over the weekend, as usual.  I did manage to make my goal on dad's memorial (barely) and got quite a bit done on Jesus too.  I had a really hard time getting started on dad's memorial.  I don't know if I just wasn't ready for it or what.  I didn't touch it Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday of the first week.  Friday I worked on it and then tore out everything I'd put into it.  Saturday and Monday, I didn't work on it.  Tuesday I finally felt like working on it.  It was very hard on my fingers though, as I was pushing through the cloth with a blunt tipped needle.  I'm considering getting a sharp for it next time it comes up.  I stab myself with them though,so I may just suffer with the blunt.  IDK yet...
Anyways, progress is in their albums.  You can look here:   for my lone tomato (Dad's Memorial), and here for Jesus.  I got a lot of time in on him Sunday because of the football games.  I watched Pittsburgh beat Seattle in a shut out.  Then my Bengals lost (ouch) in the last minute to the Broncos (I hate everyone from Denver this week).  Then the Sunday night game was Philly and Atlanta.  I was very disappointed that Philly lost.  Their backup QB wasn't bad, but he just couldn't quite get it.  So again, two out of three lost.  Grrrr...
My friend Randi is planning a giveaway.  She's gonna give away a twenty dollar gc to HAED for her fifty followers giveaway.  She's at forty one, so she only needs nine followers.  To be in the giveaway, you only have to be a follower of her blog and leave her a comment.  The post is here, if you'd like to read what she had to say about it.  And now she's up to forty four, so it'll be soon for the giveaway!  Good luck everyone!
I got some new stash lately.  Some I bought from 123stitch.com, some I bought from individuals, and some was in the Traveling Stash box.  I've been remiss in not mentioning that before, but I've felt so busy...  Anyways, it arrived here either Thursday or Friday morning.  My neighbor took it in for a few days because he was afraid it would get stolen.  As if...  Anyways, it had six things in it that I liked and kept.  I put in six large pieces of fabby I inherited that I didn't like.  It's very full now, lol.  I'll be passing this on on blogspot only, so if you want to have a chance to go through it, leave a comment on my blogspot blog.  It has mostly charts, but there are some fabbies and a few flossies as well.  It cost fourteen and change to ship it to me, so I'm sure it will cost the same for me to ship it out.  Unfortunately, for this, I won't ship international.  The cost would be prohibitive.  Sorry ladies, I just can't afford to pay that much for shipping.  I'll choose a winner on the fourth of October, so you have plenty of time to get your name in the hat.  (I'm gonna have Randi pick the name!!!)  If you want to see my new acquisitions, you can go here, and then keep clicking next for the rest.  One thing that I got from the Traveling Stash box is not pictured.  I got it for Randi and it's a surprise.  Since she reads my blog, I didn't take a piccy.  Na na na na na!!!!
I'm starting to get really excited about Randi's visit.  It's only two weeks from tomorrow, yay!!!  I just can't wait.  I love to have visits from friends.  And I love to go visit friends.  We're going to Columbus to visit Julie and Lauren from Sassy's Fabbys.  And that's gonna be fun too.  Then we're gonna go back home and crash, probably.  Well, Randi will probably crash in the car, lol.  And then we're gonna stitch and chat and stitch and chat.  Whoo hoo!!!  It's gonna be awesome.  I'm considering extending my rotation by a week so I'm doing cross stitching with her instead of hardanger, which she doesn't do.  We'll see how it goes.
Anyways, that's it for me this week.  I'm starting Story Keeper soon.  I need to do my emails real quick, and then I'll be stitching for a little bit.  Hope you're all having a great day!!  BTW, I've given up on photos for now.  If anyone out there (please God) can tell me how to move photos vertically, I would sooooooooooooooooooo appreciate it.  I can move things horizontally, but not vertically.  I can move one to the right and one to the left, but can't move them up and down.  So thanks to Joyce L, who told me what HTML to delete to move side to side, and I appreciate that so much.  I don't do html (at all) so it was helpful to me.

You have made some really great progress on your projects, Julie. I can even recognize Jesus now :) I hopped on over to Randi's blog, she is up to 45 followers as of my comment. I was already a follower though. :)

I wouldn't mind checking out the traveling stash box, that sounds pretty neat.

I wish I could help you with posting photos, but I don't know really what to do. I just add pictures, lol. I am not sure how to move them around, I just stick them in where I think they need to go and they go there! But, I do tend to upload the photos to blogger instead of linking to my Webshots, maybe that has something to do with it?

Oh, and I can see my followers today! :)

Ooo, nice progress! I like the tomato :D
Traveling stash box? Sounds interesting!
I love your new stash - I have some of those! Started CC and one of the Feline Elegances... fancy a SAL someday? (like 2012, lol?)

Great! I see that you chose two of the cross stitch pattern books (cats and hummingbirds) that I donated to the Traveling Stash box when I had it. Theresa listed all the stops that the box has made on its travels around the country. You should copy this list and add on your name and state too! The box was first sent traveling by Tricia from Wisconsin on 4/14/11. From there it went to DJ in Maryland, Lynn in Minnesota, Nan in Indiana, Beth in Kentucky, Debbie in California, Linda in California, Joyce in Texas, then Theresa in Texas.

Thanks Rachel. I'm happy with my progress this weekend! I'll put your name in the draw. I wish my blogger would do that. When I add photos, no matter where the cursor is when I click the photo button, it adds the photos at the very top. I can't move then down at all. It drives me crazy. I was experimenting with the HTML today, and I just couldn't figure it out. I'm glad your followers are there. That's great! Thanks Tama. I'll put your name in the draw then. I don't know... I already have twenty one projects in progress... Of course, I'm hoping to have Jesus finished by Christmas, so if I do, I can do a Sunday SAL with you for the Feline elegance chart... I didn't see that list, Debbie. I'll definitely add it to my next blog! Well, if I remember... And thanks for the charts. I love them both!! It's such a great idea. I put in six big pieces of fabby that I'll never use, and I hope someone thinks they're just perfect!!!

Hi Julie,

I was debating whether or not to try for The Stash Box and I decided what the heck!

Good progress on both your projects!

Thanks Nancy. I appreciate you looking. Thanks Ewa. For some reason (faulty self control), I seem to do a lot of stashing and stitching, lol. Thanks Cucki, much appreciated. Thanks Charity. I'll go check it out right now. Appreciate you looking too! I'll put your name in for it, Chele. Good luck!

HTML was my first "foreign language" (haha) but I'm horrible at explaining it. I will make a valiant attempt to help you with the picture problems, though!

First, do you mean pictures within your blog entries? And if so, do you use "Compose" or "HTML" for typing your blog entries? I'm still a bit new to the blogger interface so I haven attempted an emailed entry so can't help you there. :) Lastly, I'm going to assume that you insert pictures using the little "insert image" button provided by blogger, haha.

If "Compose": Easiest way, just click and drag. The picture will follow your mouse around and give you all sorts of frustration if you're wanting it in an exact place, haha.

If "HTML": You would want to cut the entire picture code (Blogger seems to start it with table align= and ends with /table -- don't forget the < opening and closing > carrots!). Paste it wherever you want your picture to appear within the text.

I usually do my own coding where I can because I'm absurdly picky about where things show up. If you're ever interested in playing around with HTML (just to see what some things do), this can be a big help. Feel free to ask any questions as I know I'm hopelessly inept at explaining it, eh heh ^^;;

You're making good progress on both pieces Julie.

I don't blame you for not wanting to send the stash box overseas! I wouldn't want to either as it would cost far too much. That's one reason why I've never entered for it when I've seen it before as I wouldn't be able to afford to send it on.

Nice progress, Julie!

I think you might have better success with pictures if you update to the new editor. I'm assuming that you haven't from what you've said. Go to Dashboard, then Settings, then scroll down to Global Settings and click new editor. I think it makes blogging much more user-friendly. It does take a long time for the photos to load but you can upload them all in one go or individually, and just type your blog entry and add the photos as you go. No more clicking and dragging. Hope that helps a bit! Email me if you need any more help!

Thanks Val. Okay, maybe it's an issue with the way I have my blog set up then, Rosey. Because it won't let me click and drag vertically. I can move photos horizontally, but not vertically. I'll have to try the moving the HTML thing though. Thanks for the tips, I appreciate it!! Thanks Sally. Oh, that's too bad. I bet you would like what's in it a lot. It's all more your style than mine. I'll try that Siobhan. Thanks for the advice!!

Wow! Great progress on Jesus!! :D
I don't understand why you have problems with posting pictures here =/ how do you do it? Don't you upload them to Picasa? I upload for my picasa album and then just copy/paste the link to my post. No big deal.. you're probably posting links from Multiply, no? Can't help with that, sorry =/

mdgtjulie said...

Thanks Nia. I actually try to upload them directly from my PC. It's giving me fits.

Your Dad's Memorial piece is coming along nicely, and Jesus is looking really great too. You must be pleased after your initial frustration and having to re-start on your "Jesus" piece.

Have a wonderful time with Randi. It sounds like you have some great fun planned with all of the stitching, chatting and generally having a marvelous time together!

Carissa said...

Sounds like you got quite a bit done Julie!

Carissa said...

Oh, forgot to mention I'd love to have a chance at the traveling stash box!

mdgtjulie said...

Thanks Kathy Ellen. I still frog Jesus on a very regular basis (almost every Sunday), but they're small froggings, nothing major. It's still a little bit frustrating though. That's pretty much the plan, lol. Lots and lots of stitching, I'm sure. I sure did Carissa. And I'll make sure and put your name in the hat!!

Cant wait to see the Steelers play the colts. I don't have cable but am watching it at my sis in laws.

I would love the traveling stitch box. I never win stuff like that. Plus you could bring it to me, no postage necessary. How nice would that be?

I would love to see the Steelers play. ATM, the only game available to me is the Cleveland Miami game, and I can't stand Cleveland. So here I am, doing emails. That would be nice, lol. I'll put your name in the BOD Sierra!

Angie said...

Did you watch the game? EWWW cleveland miami, not sorry to have missed that one! Sucks that the first home game of the season and you couldn't watch it. My sis-in-law was quite upset about that.

mdgtjulie said...

Naahhhh, Cleveland is one of those teams I refuse to watch unless they're playing the Bengals. I just can't stand them. UGH!!! Yeah, it does. I was hoping for a win, but no such luck. Still, we did beat Cleveland the first time we played them, so that's good. And it was a close game both times we lost. So we are getting competitive. And that's a good thing too!!! I'm hoping for more wins (and for them to trade Carson so we can get SOMETHING for him. Obviously, he's not gonna play for us again...) somewhere down the road. It's hard with a rookie QB though.
