A stitching update and other things

I got a lot of stitching done today.  I had such a good day.  Yes, it was the anniversary of the World Trade Center Tragedy.  It was also the first day of football for me this year.  I love me some football.  I watched the Bengals vs Browns game at one (we won, whoo hoo), the Giants vs Redskins game at four fifteen (Giants lost, boo), and the Cowboys vs Jets game at eight thirty (Cowboys lost at the last minute, boo).  It was great.  I got a lot of stitching in, which was really cool.  I put in several hundred stitches on Jesus's hair.  You can see piccys here:
I also got the Meerkat back from Hobby Lobby today.  Well, yesterday.  I think it turned out good.  I really like the frame I chose.  It's really pretty.  You can see them here:    There is a tiny piece, up in the left top corner that I'm not crazy about, as they only used a tiny little bit of the frame.  But I still like it.  Feel free to leave me a comment and let me know what you think.
I went over to mom's house Friday night for Harry Potter night.  My cousin Beth was away for the weekend (I can't remember where), and mom was off work.  We watched Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, which always pisses me off.  ***Spoiler  ~  Spoiler***  I was pissed off when they burned down The Burrow.  It didn't happen in the book, and I was so mad that they did it in the movie.  And in the next movie, there was no mention of rebuilding.  It just looked the same as it ever did.  Grrrr....  ***End Spoiler***  Anyways, I didn't get home till after eleven thirty that night.  I put in about seventy stitches on my memorial for dad, then pulled out every one of them cause (are you ready for this) I started it upside down.  Yep, I kid you not.  Luckily, I had been having trouble with it (couldn't get the waste cloth (regular twenty eight count as they don't make waste cloth in twenty eight count) basted to the towels without getting it crooked, and I didn't have any pins to pin it with.  I guess I could have used needles...) so the seventy stitches were all I had to pull out.  IDK if I"m gonna make my goal now or not.  I only have a week to do it in, and it's hard to stitch on waste canvas sometimes...  Since I pulled it all out, no pics.  I'll get some good time in on it tomorrow, I hope.
And lastly, I got voicemail on my phone.  It was free to add it, thankfully.  I had been wanting to do it for a while.  When I watched mom's house while she was in San Fransisco, I had to check her messages.  And one day, when she didn't have any messages, the thing said, "No new messages.  To send a message, press two..."  And I was all, "Cool, I can send her a message at three am when I've just remembered something I've been forgetting to tell her."  So I can do that now.  And I left her three messages the other day.  One was to ask her if I could have one of her rocks for Julie to take jewelry pics on.  I'm all gung ho about that!  So that's the news from here today.  Hope you're all having a super night!!  (Again, stupid blogger won't let me move my photos to where I want them.  I'm gonna give up soon, and just post links all the time.)

Love how the meercat came out from framing! Love HP -- we still need to catch up on the movies.

Ah my gosh, don't get me started on the Harry Potter movies, lol! I was so glad the last one came out this year because it meant a series of horrible movies was done. I'm probably going to be lynched by hordes of rabid fans now. :D The books are an enjoyable read for me but the movies just... butchered them.

Anyway~ The frame's a great choice! I kinda prefer simple frames over fancy ones with mountains of mats for pieces like that.

I love how your meercat turned out Julie. It's such a cute piece. Jesus is coming along really well.

I hope you manage to get the momorial stitch done for your Dad.

By the way have written down your addy and will happily send you a birthday card:)

Your frame and finish are lovely! Nice work on Jesus. Sounds like you had a fun weekend.

Meerkats looks great. I see what you are talking about on the frame, though it did take me awhile to find it. It doesn't look horrible, but I can't believe they would just piece the frame like that. If I were you, I would take it back and request them to redo it, free of charge. It doesn't speak too highly of their workmanship, IMO.

You have made good progress on Jesus as well. I believe I have this pattern, or one similar, that I plan to do, eventually. Along with so many others I want to do, lol.

I echo your sentiments exactly about HP, ugh. The movies frustrate me so much compared to the books. They leave so much out, and change so many things that it's like a totally different thing!

Jesus is coming along nicely! Meercat looks nice framed but if you are not happy with the frame (I did not see what you were talking about) you should take it back and have them fix it. Enjoy your week!

Meerkat - Mere Cat is really special...so cute. Your stitching on "Jesus" is wonderful! So happy that you are making such great progress. I can't imagine putting in "several hundred stitches in Jesus' hair"!

Thanks Mouse. Yeah, I know, they sometimes change things around. I like it when they follow the book better!! Well, yes and no. Right now, I'm working on the twenty eight count over two. But the chart I'm using was deigned for me by a friend who knows I love complexity in my charts. There is quite a bit of over one stitching in it, so I have to use something that I can do over one on. Hence using the twenty eight count as waste fabby. Thanks Kaye. I just don't think I'm ready for it yet. Maybe it's just too soon for me, as I haven't felt like stitching on it at all. Thanks Cucki. Thanks Margaret. I like them (most of them) but they're very different from the books. Oh, yes, lynched at the very least, lol. You're entitled to your opinion!!! I didn't want to mat it with a border already there, so it's just simple. Thanks Sally. Cool!!! It WAS a good weekend Charity. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks Rachel. I was surprised too. I'm debating whether to take it back or not... It's the first problem I've had with them and they've framed several pieces for me. Yes they do! Drives me batty!! Thanks Leslie. And thanks Debra. Thanks Julie. I really don't like working on him, but I'm doing it for mom, so I won't have to look at him, lol. Thanks Nancy. I'm considering taking it back. Thanks Topcho. I'm glad I'm not the only one!! I can't wait to see the back of him, Denise. Thanks!!! Thanks Benjamin. I'll send you an email, lol. Thanks Kathy. I wouldn't have thought I could, but it was football, and I was perfectly happy doing it, lol.

Huh! I never realized that and I read the book and saw the movie...

Your meerkat piece came out great! I like the frame. Not sure about the corner you were referring to. It looks fine to me. The Jesus design is looking really nice too. So much detail in it. It will be stunning when its done.

Sorry to hear about the frogging. Ripping out stitches is the worst I hate having nights like that where I've spent 1 or 2 hours stitching only to find I have to rip it all out cause I messed up. It could have been worse I guess.

Hope you are doing well girlie :)
Jen

Thanks Pumpkin. They totally changed the end around. Harry was up top with Dumbledore, and Dumbledore had petrificu totalised him. So he feels like it's his fault, cause if Dumbledore hadn't cursed him, he would have had time to defend himself. I love the book, but don't think a lot of the movie. Thanks Jen, I'm doing really well. I was so happy about Sunday and football, and it's sort of following me. I didn't mind too much. I'm glad I caught it two colors in instead of ten!!

lovely Meerkats.

I'll try Nia, but it's really annoying to not have them be where I want them to. Thanks Doris.

Finally catching up with you, Julie. Meerkat looks great all framed up and Jesus is moving along nicely. :D

The easiest way to move pics, is to do it through the HTML, unfortunately. :( If I'm too lazy to do that.... I just delete the uploaded pic and upload again. LOL!

If I knew html, I would do that, Joysze, but I know nothing about it. Thanks for looking!!
